About the Project

The Point Cook Islamic Centre is an initiative of Point Cook Islamic Community (PCIC) to establish a dedicated mosque and Islamic community centre for Point Cook and surrounding suburbs in Melbourne’s west.

Point Cook is home to an estimated 4,500 Muslims, yet the suburb does not have a dedicated mosque. As the local community continues to grow, the need for a permanent place of worship and a facility for religious education and community activities has become increasingly important.

The Point Cook Islamic Centre aims to address this need by providing a dedicated, accessible facility where local Muslims can worship, learn and participate in community life.

What Will the Centre Provide?

The Centre is planned to support a range of religious, educational and community activities, including:

  • Prayer facilities: A dedicated space for daily prayers, Friday congregational prayers and Ramadan activities.

  • Islamic education: Programs for children and adults to develop their understanding of Islam and its teachings.

  • Children and youth programs: Activities supporting learning, personal development, confidence and positive youth engagement.

  • Family and community support: Programs and gatherings that bring families together and strengthen community connections.

  • Community events: Eid celebrations, educational sessions, welfare initiatives and other community activities.

  • Social cohesion: Opportunities to build positive relationships, mutual understanding and engagement with Point Cook’s wider community.

The Centre will provide a permanent base for these activities, reducing the community’s reliance on hired venues and temporary arrangements for prayers and events.

The Project and Fundraising

PCIC was established in October 2025 by community members committed to meeting the growing needs of Point Cook’s Muslim population.

The project has a fundraising target of $2.5 million, with $750,000 already raised through community contributions and donations.

Achieving the remaining target will help PCIC progress towards establishing a dedicated mosque and community centre that can serve local families, children and future generations.
